UPDATED: Main Street Reopens After Accident

Medfield Police Chief Robert Meaney Jr. said a motor vehicle hit a telephone pole on Main Street Thursday afternoon, causing wires to hang too low and the road to be closed.

A section of Route 109 Main Street in Medfield is now reopen after being closed for nearly five hours Thursday after a motor vehicle hit a telephone pole, according to Medfield Chief of Police, Robert Meaney Jr.

The one-vehicle accident occurred Thursday at 2:19 p.m. in the area of 393 Main Street and caused major traffic delays to the afternoon and evening commute as drivers were detoured around the low hanging telephone wires.

“[The crash was] just west of Robert Sproul Road and damaged a telephone pole, which has caused the wires to hang too low over the road to allow traffic to flow,” Meaney said. “The westbound detour route [was] Route 109 to Pound Street to South Street. The eastbound detour [was] Route 109 to South Street to Pound Street.”
