11-Year-Old Boy Transported to Hospital by MedFlight After Fall Down Church Steps

Medfield Police say identity and condition of boy remain unknown.

An 11-year-old boy was transported to Mass General Hospital by MedFlight after falling down the steps at the on North Street Sunday morning.

Medfield Chief of Police Robert Meaney Jr. said dispatch responded to the call at 11:36 a.m. but did not have further details on the incident.

"I do not know the identity of the child and we have not received an update on the child's condition," Meaney said Monday afternoon. Meaney did confirm the boy was conscious when arrived.

"Officers who were [at the scene] said [the boy] was talking to them at the scene," Meaney said. 

Medfield resident and local business owner, Christopher "Chip" Lennon notified Medfield Patch of the incident through e-mail.

"The child sustained injuries that include bleeding out of his ear and contusions," Lennon's e-mail read. 

Meaney could not confirm Lennon's details regarding the injuries. "I am not sure about the bleeding from the ear."

Lennon said the Medfield Fire Department Ambulance and MedFlight were contacted and a landing zone was established at the Medfield Transfer Station for the MedFlight hellicoptor to land and take the boy to the hospital.

According to a 2008 Medfield Press article, titled: "Contenders make pitches for selectman post," Lennon served as a Call/Volunteer Medfield Firefighter for over 20 years.
