POLL: Would you support a regional dispatch center for E911 calls?

The town of Foxborough recently received a $100,000 grant to study the possibility of a regional E911 dispatch center that would serve Foxborough, Walpole and Medfield.

The town of a $100,000 public safety grant to explore the creating one regional dispatch center for E911 calls for the towns of Foxborough, Walpole and Medfield. 

The town of Norwood is also thinking about joining the group. 

Officials told Foxborough Patch that the grant will fund a consultant who "can come in and make an objective assessment as to the benefits for all three of our communities.”

Medfield Police Chief Bob Meaney said E911 dispatchers serve a "critical function" in public safety, and said a regional dispatch center would provide at least two dispatchers which would be a welcomed improvement over Medfield's one.
