Robert Douglas Bond, 84, was a Volunteer Fireman in Medfield

He was a volunteer fire fighter in Medfield and was also a member of the Medfield Acacia Club.

Robert Douglas Bond, 84 of Medfield (where he had been a resident since 1973), died Nov. 19, 2013, at Beth Israel Hospital.

Born in Newton he was the cherished son of the late Herbert and Hazel (Wadman) Bond. He was raised and educated in the Dover public schools. He then attended the Stockbridge School of Agriculture located at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He served as a Corporal in the U. S. Army. 

Robert was employed by the McMillan and Blowdel Lumber Company for many years from which he retired in 1992. He was a Volunteer Fire Fighter for Medfield and Dover, a Dover Special Police Unit Officer and a past Commander of the Dover American Legion. He was also a 50 year member of the Charles River Lodge and a member of the Medfield Acacia Club. 

Robert leaves behind his wife Sharon (Leach) Bond, his loving children, William E. Bond and his wife Lily of Ridgewood, NJ; Jennifer L. Nickerson and her husband William of Weymouth; Robert D. Bond Jr. and his wife Kimberly of Medfield; and a sister Shirley McGill of Dover. He was also adored by his five grandchildren: Andrew, Grace, Matthew, Lauren and Hazel Bond. He was predeceased by his brother Herbert Bond Jr. and sister Cynthia Bond Richards.
