Marilyn L. Sullivan (Conlon)

Marilyn L. Sullivan, (Conlon), age 77, of Millis where she has been a resident for 12 years died Monday, May 28, 2012 at the MetroWest Medical Center (Leonard Morse Hospital) in Natick after a brief illness.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Francis J. and Mildred R. (Clancy) Conlon and was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School in Roxbury with the class of 1952.

A former long time resident of Hyde Park, she was retired from P. B. Diagnostics after 13 years as the Payroll Administrator. She had also worked for ABC Retail and Cornerstone Research.

She was a member of the Millis Garden Club, and enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

Wife of the late Edmund J. Sullivan, she is the mother of Matthew R. Sullivan of Lewiston, ME, James B. Sullivan and his wife Kerry of Medway, Timothy P. Sullivan and his wife Michelle of Vienna, VA and the late Edmund J. Sullivan Jr. Mrs. Sullivan is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Diana Sullivan of Boston, 3 sisters, Lorraine Brancaccio of Abington, Gertrude Brancaccio of Quincy and Patricia Lawlor of Marshfield, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.She was also predeceased by a brother the late Francis Conlon and sister the late Mildred Massey.

Bernice Mullen

Bernice Mullen, age 84, of Medfield where she has been a resident for 25 years, died after a brief illness at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston.

Born and raised in Ft. Covington, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary (MacDonald) McCabe and was educated in the Ft. Covington Public Schools. She continued her education at Potsdam State Teachers College, Buffalo State Teachers College and St. Lawrence University.

Mrs. Mullen was a long time member of the United Church of Christ in Medfield where she had served on the Board of Trustees and a member of the Diaconate. She was also a member of the P.E.O. International, (Philanthropic Educational Organization).

A teacher by vocation, she taught for over 18 years in various elementary schools in the New York State, and was a tenured teacher in Massena, Rochester and Lowville, New York.

She was the wife of over 61 years to Richard Charles Mullen, loving mother of Lynn Mullen Battinelli and her husband Cos of Winchester, James Charles Mullen and his wife Justine of Needham and the late Richard Everett Mullen, sister of Barbara Hemenway of Midland, MI and the late Henry and Harold McCabe, and also survived by 5 grandchildren, John Battinelli, Nathaniel, Elizabeth, Jared and Anna Mullen.

Burial will take place in the family lot on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lowville Rural Cemetery, Lowville, New York.

In Bernice’s memory, contributions may be made in honor of her son to the Richard Everett Mullen Memorial Fund, c/o Lowville Academy and Central School, 7668 State St., Lowville, NY 13367.

Francis Tammaro

Francis Tammaro, Age 91, of Roslindale, formerly of Medfield & Millis, May 24, 2012, beloved son of the late Pasquale and Mary (McLean) Tammaro.

He was the loving uncle of Joann McDermott of Norwood, Robert Tammaro of Framingham and Carolann Lachapelle of Medfield. He was predeceased by a brother Michael W. Tammaro.

Donald A. McGowan

Donald A. McGowan, age 84, of Millis, formerly of Harwich and Hyde Park, died peacefully on May 23, 2012. He was a retired Boston Police Detective and Veteran of the US Navy. Don grew up in Hyde Park, son of Albert and Mabel (Rooney) McGowan. He joined the US Navy and served two years before returning home, marrying the love of his life, Jane, starting a family, and planting roots back in Hyde Park.

Forever a community supporter, he coached youth sports and worked hard behind the scenes in local politics, all the while showing his kids the value of hard work, loyalty, and faith. He retired in 1978 after a devastating illness, yet he kept persevering to the end.

When he relocated to Millis, he rededicated himself to community involvement, through the American Legion, the Millis Food Pantry, the Police Department, St Thomas the Apostle Church, and others. He truly enjoyed the benefits of his countless friendships and bonds developed over his 84 year journey.

“Mac” is survived by his faithful and loving sister Judy and her husband Ed Vroman of Franklin, his sister Marie Dooley of Florida, and brother Larry of Baton Rouge, LA. He was predeceased by his sister Anne Connelly of Readville.

He was married for 52 years to Jane (Ryan), until her death in 2006. He was predeceased by his eldest son Kevin in 2007. He leaves a daughter, Donna and her husband Tom Kaddick of Bellingham, and his sons Robert of Florida, Patrick of Medway, and Peter and his wife Laura of Franklin. He also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Sally Harris

Sally Harris, age 65, of Medfield where she has been a resident since 1978, died Tuesday, May 19th at the Newton Wellesley Hospital in Newton.

Born in Milford, she was the daughter of the late George and Dorothy (Harwood) Harlow and educated at Mass Bay Community College, earning a Business Management Certificate, Southern Connecticut State College with her MS in Elementary Education and Central Connecticut State College with a BS in Elementary Education.

Formerly of Hopedale, she had been most recently employed by MITEM Corporation in Sudbury as the Manager of Sales Administration, Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Sales. Previously she had been employed by Tenberry Software in Natick as the Sr. Administrator, Office Manager, and Administrative assistant to the Vice President and General Manager.

Mrs. Harris was a long time member of the United Church of Christ in Medfield where she was involved with the Prayer Shawl Knitting Group, the UCC Women’s Group and the Bell Choir. She was active in 2 bridge groups and enjoyed family, traveling, the beach and spending quality time with her only grandson, Cooper.

Beloved with of 37 years to James D. Harris, she is Loving mother of Brad Harris and his wife Nicole of Canton and Steven Harris of Somerville. Sister of George Harlow Jr and his wife Rita of TX, Nancy Thompson and her husband Ken of RI and Jeanne Harlow of Falmouth. Also survived by 1 grandson Cooper Harris.
