Former Baptist Deacon, Bobby Gene Estep, Dies at 77

Bobby Gene Estep died on Sept. 30 at home in Clayton, NC. He served as a deacon at Medfield's First Baptist Church for 20 years.

Bobby Gene Estep, 77, passed away at his home in Clayton, North Carolina, on Sept. 30 after a lengthy illness. Bob was born Nov. 11, 1934 in Ashland, Kentucky, son of the late Edgel and Pansy Estep.

He met his bride, Janet Dunkin of Columbus, Ohio, at Westinghouse Electric Corp. where they both worked. They were married on Nov. 23, 1957. Many years after transferring to Westinghouse in Boston, he retired as financial executive. They moved to Clayton, NC, in 1996.

Active in church life, he served the Lord for 20 years as a Deacon at First Baptist Church, Medfield, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Clayton, NC. He was a Mason for nearly 50 years and was a member of Granite Lodge 191 in Clayton, NC.

A Celebration of his life will be held today at First Baptist Church of Clayton preceded by a family visitation at 1 p.m. with burial to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Janet; daughter Elaine and husband, Paul Hansen and their children Jennifer and Laura, all of Raleigh; son, Bradley M. and wife Rosanne, and their children Zachary and Katherine of Plaistow, New Hampshire: brother, Gary and wife Myrtle, and many nieces and nephews.
