Here's a look at two people with Medfield ties who recently died.
Heffler, Ethel R. (Miller), of Natick, formerly of Medfield, Oct. 17, 2013. Family and friends will honor and remember Ethel's life by gathering at 10 am on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at St. Edward the Confessor, 133 Spring Street, Medfield, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery in Boston.
Mary C. McCarthy, 104, Oct. 10, 2013. Lived in Sherborn but worked at a hat shop in Medfield as a young woman. She enjoyed telling fortunes, and dancing (to which she attributed her longevity to her dancing). She received the Boston Cane Award in 2009. Throughout her life, she lived only in two houses in Sherborn, less than one-half mile from each other. She was a resident of the Thomas Upham House when she died. Mrs. McCarthy's full obituary can be found here.
