Metals and Butterflies – Medfield Green Day this Saturday!

Medfield Green Day will be held this coming Saturday, May 4th from 9 - Noon at the American Legion. This blog describes the charities and organizations that will be participating in this event.

Maria Piedra, owner of the Butterfly Tree, has agreed for the second year in a row to provide a generous offer to Green Day supporters.

Those who are able to attend Medfield Green Day this coming Saturday, May 4th from 9 -12 p.m. at the American Legion will be given a $5.00 coupon (one per car) for the Butterfly Tree Boutique, 505 Main Street.  The Butterfly Tree is a unique, gift store which stocks many earth friendly and made in the U.S.A. products.

As far as items to bring to Green Day for recycling, you can bring along your old appliances and anything made of metal. Medfield Green member Steve Cantanese is heading up the “Metals” recycling area on Saturday.  He will be working with Allied Recycling Center in Walpole which will donate a 40 yard roll off container to collect all the metals brought to the Legion.

We will have a drop off service for any appliance including refrigerators, air conditioners, stoves, dishwashers, garbage disposals, toaster ovens, washing machines, dryers and microwaves. We can also handle metals items such as grills, snow blowers and lawn mowers. Car batteries and all electrical wiring qualify too.  If it's made out of metal, we can recycle it.

We also have a new recycling partner called Earthworks that will recycle any old plastic gift cards/library cards/credits cards you may have. Over 75 million pounds of PVC material from plastic cards enters our waste stream each year. Now Earthworks offers an alternative to throwing away these plastic cards - recycle them!

A total of fourteen charitable and recycling organizations will be taking part in this event. In tomorrow blog entry, we will talk about Cradle to Crayons Children’s Charity.
