Medfield Resident Elected to NFPA Standards Council

Medfield's John (J.C.) Harrington is one of 13 individuals appointed by the NFPA Board of Directors to guide the Association's codes and standards-making system.

Medfield resident John (J.C.) Harrington, assistant vice president and senior engineering technical specialist at FM Global, has been elected to serve a second three-year term on the Standards Council of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).

Headquartered in Quincy, NFPA is a professional international organization whose 70,000 members work to reduce the worldwide burden of fire and other hazards. Harrington is one of 13 individuals appointed by the NFPA Board of Directors to guide the Association’s codes and standards-making system.

Based in Norwood, FM Global is one of the world’s largest business property insurers. Harrington joined FM Global in 1977 as a loss prevention engineer and in his current role, he develops property loss prevention engineering guidelines designed to prevent and mitigate loss for the company’s worldwide clients.

Harrington holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Tufts University and a master’s degree in engineering management from Northeastern University. He is a registered professional engineer in fire protection; and is OSHA certified in construction safety and health.
