Thursday's Luminary Walk Through Vine Lake Cemetery to Honor Medfield Civil War Vets

Thursday's luminary walk through Vine Lake Cemetery is a featured event in Medfield's "First Thursday Series" and will honor the town's Civil War veterans.

On Thursday, May 3, residents will have an opportunity to participate in a free luminary walking tour through Vine Lake Cemetery's Old Section.

The walking tour, to be held 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., is the second in a series by the Vine Lake Preservation Trust to commemorate our nation's 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Thursday's event will honor 41 Union veterans buried in Vine Lake.

The public is invited to the cemetery Thursday evening to "witness the splendor of light and celebration." Participants can walk the roads to see a luminary at special gravesites; you'll also be given a program listing the veterans once you arrive. You are asked to park on the roads around the lake and climb the steps to the Old Section.

This luminary walk is the Trust's initial celebration of First Thursday, an ongoing series sponsored by the _, which organizes a series of events to be held on the first Thursday of each month.
