Volunteering at the Zullo Gallery in Medfield, I was lucky enough to take a look at the newest exhibit, Urban Scenes, Buildings and Places.
The exhibit features artists Nancy Deveno (a local art instructor), Sean Flood, Rick Legge, and David Sturtevant. The exhibit runs through Sept. 1 and an artist’s reception will be held on July 28th. The exhibit features enormous cityscapes, relentlessly detailed with beautified trash receptacles and rusted balcony railings.
Also in the exhibit are smaller, simpler works—soothing and richly and effortlessly, blended with that distinctive artist’s hand. The cool and quiet, almost unassuming, gallery is the ideal residence for these urban and not Medfield-like landscapes.

While the exhibit is focused mainly on these landscapes, there are a few paintings, both big and small, that feature people, a fair amount of negative space and abstraction. If you can’t make it to the artist’s reception, I’d encourage you to visit the gallery on your own time—open Saturday and Sunday 12 to 5 p.m.—to see the innovative pieces.
