Patriot Place Featuring Medfield Artwork

MHS student art at Patriot Place

For the first time, the artwork of Medfield High’s students will be displayed at The Artist’s Studio & Gallery at Patriot Place from January 18 through January 20. The exhibit is called Expressive Self-Portraits. MHS students were allowed to submit a self-portrait in any form of media including paint, photography, and charcoal. The only requirement is that the portrait evokes or represents an emotion or expression.

Not only was this opportunity presented for the art students of MHS, but any student who wanted was able to submit a portrait. Many students entered one or two pieces of artwork, which would possibly be selected as one of the 25 to be featured at the exhibit.

This art show was coordinated and worked on by a few students and staff members, including art teacher Ms. Meghan Drew, Art and Portfolio Club president Amelia White, and Shelby Doolity, the Zullo Gallery’s managerial assistant.

Ms. Drew, who helped plan the event, had very positive things to say. “What’s great about this is it’s a student juried and curated show. It’s a really nice way for students to get their artwork out in the community and have people who are not from Medfield appreciate their work.”

The Art Show is open for any visitors this Friday from 5-9 pm, Saturday from 1-9 pm, and Sunday from 11-6 pm. There will also be an artists’ reception on Friday.
