Schilling Items Raise $1,450 for SMA Research

Items donated by the Schilling family helped raise money for Spinal Muscular Atrophy research.

A yard sale held on Saturday, Oct. 26, raised $1,450 for the New England Chapter of Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

This amount, added to the fall golf classic, brings the October donation to more than $50,000, according to Heidi Johnson, parent of William Johnson who has SMA.

Johnson said she is grateful to the Schilling family who donated items left from their family estate sale earlier this month.

"We are so thankful for Curt and Shonda's amazing support as well as the huge donations from John and Robin Connors that made this sale possible.  Extra thanks to all our helpers: The Cook Family, Neal O'Connor, Jen Hall, Gramps and Lori, Michelle, Debby, and Carol, as well as our National Honor Society student helpers Kate Thomas and Sally Todd," Johnson said.
