Local Man Raises Money for "No Kid Hungry Program"

Jon F. Merz of Medfield hopes to raise $50,000 to provide 500,000 meals to hungry children in the United States.

Jon F. Merz of Medfield has created a GoFundMe page to help end childhood hunger in the United States.

He hopes to raise $50,000 for the organization and, so far, has raised $355. The page went live earlier this week (Dec. 29, 2013).

In exchange for a donation, Merz will do "burpees," an exercise that involves touching your chest and hips to the ground, followed by a jump up and clap to celebrate.

Says Merz at burpeesforbreakfast.org, "I'm doing 50 burpees every day in 2014 to raise money for NO KID HUNGRY. My goal is to raise $50,000 - enough money to provide 500,000 meals for hungry children."

Here is more information on Merz' effort...

I'm raising money for Share Our Strength, which runs the No Kid Hungry program to help end childhood hunger in the United States. To motivate you to donate to this incredibly worthy charity, I'm doing 50 burpees EVERY SINGLE DAY during 2014. That means I have 18,250 burpees to do throughout the course of the year.

I hate burpees; but I hate the thought of any child in this country not getting enough to eat even more, so please consider supporting this incredible charity! I'll be posting videos of me doing the burpees every day so you can follow along with my suffering and ensure that I'm keeping up my end of the bargain.

You donate - I do burpees. It's that simple, but even something this simple can end up making a huge impact in the lives of our nation's hungry kids. Check out the No Kid Hungry website to see how much your donation helps out hungry kids in the USA. If you want to find out more about me, the books I write, and my motto of WHO DARES LIVES, I invite you to visit my website. But first, please donate!
