New Life Home Refurnishing Asking for Donations to the Mattress Fund Drive

New Life Home
Refurnishing, a
charitable organization that accepts tax-deductible donations of furniture
and household items and makes them available free-of-charge to those in
need, is in dire need of mattresses,
so a “Mattress Fund Drive” has been organized to purchase mattresses to
supplement those which have been donated.

“On
Saturday, March 15, a win-win opportunity to support both the Medfield High
School athletics and New Life HR has presented itself,” said Doug Marshall,
co-founder of New life HR.  “The Medfield
High School Captain’s Council, separate from New Life, is running a March Mattress sale event. “A company which
offers fundraisers to sports teams will transform the MHS gym into a mattress
showroom!  The discounts they are
offering to customers are significant.

“We at New Life
have been pricing mattresses and are impressed with the prices that are being
offered at the high school. Now, very quickly we are running a Mattress Fund
Drive so that we can shop for our clients at these good prices.”

In its first
three months of serving clients, New Life HR has found that its biggest
challenge is obtaining donations of mattresses of all sizes that are in very
good condition. The individuals and families being served by New Life typically
come from shelters or other challenging situations with a need for all
the basic apartment furnishings, including beds.  Many people choose to sleep on the floor, if
they obtain a housing subsidy, but don’t have help from an organization such as
New Life.

“Although
our clients may have jobs,” said Marshall, “they do not have extra funds
available for expenditures such as mattresses or furniture after their basic
expenses are paid. We are running this drive so that we can buy mattresses at
deep discounts for our clients.”

Tax-deductible
gifts of any size are welcome.  This is a
wonderful opportunity to create a “whole that is greater than the sum of its
parts.” If you are interested in donating, checks may be made out to New Life
Home Refurnishing, Inc. and mailed to P.O. Box 573, Medfield, MA 02052 or
donations may be made via Pay Pal on the New Life HR website, www.newlifehr.org.

“Also,
please keep in mind, if you’re interested in volunteering at New Life HR,
please check out our web site,” said Ron Yates, co-founder of New Life HR.  “There are a variety of ways in which people
can help, but most importantly, please help us get the word out that we are
here, taking donations and helping those in need.

“Our
warehouse is located at 102 Elm Street (Route 27) in Walpole,” said Yates. “We
are located in the mill building, on the right, just after the bridge as you
enter Walpole from Medfield. We are open from 9-11 AM on Saturdays for drop
offs. If you need to schedule a pick up of large items or a garage-full of
items, for example, there is a wonderful, dedicated group of volunteers that
can be scheduled to help you with that. Check out our web site – it’s all on
there – www.newlifehr.org.”
