Millis Beautification Day--Needs More Volunteers

The 10th Annual Millis Beautification Day will take place this Saturday, April 12, from 8am to noon, rain or shine.  Sponsors of the event--the Millis Garden Club and the Millis Lions Club--are recruiting more volunteers to join them and show pride in the community by picking up litter and raking leaves and brush at designated locations around town.

Spending a few hours can be a rewarding experience not only in building community spirit but also in saving tax dollars.  Last year, with the support of DPW, volunteers cleaned up over 100 cubic yards of brush and trash which translates to 180 leaf bags, 110 bags of trash, 2 small dump truck loads, and 4 large dump truck loads of brush and dead trees as well as 12 old tires and 4 TVs.  The more volunteers that sign up the more sites we can clean up and beautify.  Families, groups and organizations are welcome (children in third grade and up only).

So grab your work gloves, rakes and shovels and check-in at the Veterans Memorial Building registration tent beginning at 7:30am.  Free refreshments will be served at sign-in, thanks to the generosity of local businesses.  Residents who are unable to take part in Saturday's event are encouraged to clean up and beautify around their own areas.  For more information or to pre-register, contact Mike O'Shaughnessy at 508-376-1202 or at  nmposha@msn.com
