Doug Olsen to Hold Holiday Jazz Concert Tonight at Zullo

Doug Olsen headlines holiday jazz show at the Zullo


Doug Olsen, Medfield Music Director and accomplished trumpeter, is headlining a holiday jazz concert at the Zullo Gallery, tonight -- Thursday, Dec. 20 -- with his quintet.


The night will also feature a performance by members of the award-winning Medfield High School jazz band.

Performing in the jazz quintet with Olsen will be Dino Govoni on sax, Alexei Tsiganov on piano, Fernando Huergo on bass, and Bertram Lehman on drums.


The night is sure to usher in the holidays in style! Doors open at 7:15 p.m.; music begins at 8 p.m. Cost is a suggested donation of $10 at the door to support the Zullo Gallery Center for the Arts, a nonprofit organization in the center of Medfield at 456A Main St.

In addition to his role as Medfield music director and leader of its award-winning jazz and concert bands for 20 years, Doug has taught jazz classes at MIT, UMass, and the Community College of Rhode Island. His career includes playing lead and/or solo trumpet with Little Anthony and the Imperials, the Big & Phat Jazz Band, the Worcester Jazz Orchestra, plus others, as well as performances with the Tommy Dorsey Big Band, the Smithsonian Masterworks Jazz Orchestra, and numerous other ensembles.
