Weekend Planner: Nov. 3-6

Craft Show, House Of Horrors and Christmas Bazaar on the calendar this weekend.

The weekend is just around the corner. If the only plans you have are not to stay home because lounging on the couch and watching TV just don’t cut it anymore, then don't worry, Medfield Patch is here to assist you! Check out our list of suggestions of events to attend, places to go, sites to see – all within driving distance of home. 

1. Dover-Sherborn High School Drama Presents "39 Steps"

Where/When: , 9 Junction St, Dover; Fri., Nov. 4, 7 p.m. and Sat. Nov. 5, 2 p.m.

Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have The 39 Steps, a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre! This 2-time Tony® and Drama Desk Award-winning treat is packed with nonstop laughs, over 150 zany characters (played by a ridiculously talented cast of 12), an on-stage plane crash, handcuffs, missing fingers and some good old-fashioned romance!  In The 39 Steps, a man with a boring life meets a woman with a thick accent who says she's a spy. When he takes her home, she is murdered. Soon, a mysterious organization called "The 39 Steps" is hot on the man's trail in a nationwide manhunt that climaxes in a death-defying finale! A riotous blend of virtuoso performances and wildly inventive stagecraft, The 39 Steps amounts to an unforgettable evening of pure pleasure!

2. The Craft Affair At Norwood

Where/When: , 1315 Washington St, Norwood; Sat., Nov. 5, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The Craft Affair, a non-profit event, will feature more than 60 crafters from all over New England selling a wonderful variety of items to support the Post Prom Party and the betterment of Norwood High School activities. The Lunch Box will also be on hand selling lunch. There will be raffles and a bake sale. 

Pricing: Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for Seniors and children under 12.

3. Arts & Artisans Craft Show and Fair

Where/When: , 14 E Central St, Natick, MA; Sat., Nov. 5, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: Local artists and artisans will display and sell their unique items. Over 30 quality crafters with yarn, photography, handbags, leather goods, jewelry, pottery, painted scarves, 3D artwork, dog treats, soaps and more will be there.

Proceeds from the sale will benefit Kids Connect, a non-profit tutoring program in Natick.  The event will help Kids Connect continue to offer free and sliding scale educational services to children in town.

4. Bob Katz Performs at Final North Street Coffeehouse Open Mic Night

Where/When: , 26 North St, Medfield; Sat., Nov.5, 7 p.m.

Why Go:  The North Street Coffeehouse will host its final night of music beginning at 7 p.m.  Janet McKetchnie will begin the open mic portion at 7 p.m., followed by a musical performance by Bob Katz. Music of any genre, poetry, prose, or comedy are all welcome.  Refreshments are available.

Also, the North Street Coffeehouse will be collecting new or gently worn coats, gloves, hats, sweaters and scarves for their annual "Share The Warmth Program."

Pricing: Admission is $10, or $5 for open mikers.

5. Parkway Concert Orchestra presents 'Water and the Sea'

Where/When: 100 Winter St., Norwood; Sun., Nov. 6, 3 p.m.

Why Go:  The Parkway Concert Orchestra begins its 2011-12 season of Travel and Adventure with a concert inspired by the sea and other water bodies, including "Moldau" from My Fatherland by Smetana, Handel's "Water Music Suite," "Russian Sailors' Dance" by Gliere, and South Pacific Symphonic Scenario. The concert will feature baritone Richard Conrad singing selections from The Pirates of PenzanceH. M. S. Pinafore and The Mikado.  Matthew Fritz conducts the 50 piece non-profit orchestra supported in part by a grant from the Norwood Cultural Council.  For ticket reservations please call 781-762-0288, and for more information, visit the orchestra's web site at www.ParkwayConcertOrchestra.org.

Pricing: Donation is $15; $10 for seniors and students; and free for children under 12 years old.
