Weekend Planner: July 22-24

Crafts around the world, comedy show and a salute to our nation's military men and women are on the calendar this weekend.

The weekend is just around the corner. If the only plans you have are not to stay home because lounging on the couch and watching TV just don’t cut it anymore, then don't worry, Medfield Patch is here to assist you! Check out our list of suggestions of events to attend, places to go, sites to see – all within driving distance of home. 

1. Crafts From Around the World Summer Program at Medfield Library

Where/When: , 468 Main St, Medfield; Monday through Fridays, 2 to 5 p.m.

Why Go: The Medfield Library invites children to be creative all summer long. Drop In the Activity Room for a do-it-yourself craft with an international theme. There will be two new crafts available every week. This program will be held on weekdays from 2 to 5 p.m.

2. An All-Star Salute to Our Nation’s Military Men & Women Benefit Concert at Showcase Live

Where/When: 23 Patriot Pl, Foxborough, (Showcase Live); Saturday, July 23, 12:30 p.m.

Why Go: Michael Peterson, the 2008 recipient of the distinguished Bob Hope “Spirit Of Hope” award for his service to the nation and the servicemen and women of the Armed Forces, will perform at Showcase Live. Join Peterson as he celebrates and salutes our nations Military men and women with all proceeds to benefit Children in need. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. 
Awards at 12:30 p.m. 
Show at 1:30 p.m. Seating is on a first come first seated basis, so be sure to arrive early for lunch and best seat selection.

3. The Gazebo Players Presents: The Comedy of Errors

Where/When: Medfield Public Library, 468 Main St., Medfield; Saturday, July 23, 5 p.m.

Why Go: The Gazebo Players of Medfield will be back again this summer for their 10th annual Shakespeare in the Park production. This year’s show is The Comedy of Errors, a farce involving two sets of identical twins and a seemingly endless stream of mistaken identities. Performances at the Gazebo in Medfield will be given on July 23, 24, 30, and 31. Performances at the Music Court at Bird Park in Walpole will be given on Aug. 6 and 7. In case of rain, the Medfield performances will be at the Montrose School (29 North St.), and the Walpole performances will be at the Walpole Footlighters (5 Scout Rd.) Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic. Light refreshments will be available. For more information or directions, visit our website.

4.  Friday Flicks at Sherborn Library: ‘The Dogfather’

When/Where: Sherborn Library, 4 Sanger St, Sherborn; Friday, July 22, 2:30 p.m.

Why Go: The Sherborn Library will feature “The Dogfather,” rated PG.

Pricing: Free.

5. Friends in the Fields at Powisset Farm

Where/When: 39 Powisset St, Dover; Saturday, July 23, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Why Go: Come get your hands dirty in the Powisset Farm fields, helping them to plant, weed, and harvest, or with a variety of other farm projects. For all ages and skills.
