Weekend Planner: Jan. 6-8

Ballroom Dancing, Art and Music on the calendar this weekend.

The weekend is just around the corner. If the only plans you have is not to stay home because lounging on the couch and watching TV just isn't cutting it anymore, then don't worry, Medfield Patch is here to assist you! Check out our list of suggestions of events to attend, places to go, sites to see – all within driving distance of home. 

1. Ballroom Dance Classes in Medfield

Where/When: , 2 Ice House Road, Medfield; Sat., Jan. 7, 6 p.m.

Why Go: The Kingsbury Club Medfield is offering ballroom dance classes for five weeks beginning Saturday, Jan. 7, 6 p.m. The remaining classes will be held on Jan. 14, Jan. 21, Feb. 4 and Feb. 11. If interested in signing up, call the Kingsbury Club Medfield at (508) 359-7800.

Pricing: The member price is $79/couple and the non-member price is $95/couple.

2. "Natural Expressions and Indigenous Colors" Fall Exhibit

Where/When: MA Audubon , 293 Moose Hill St, Sharon; Saturday and Sunday Jan. 7 and 8, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go:  This is the last weekend to experience the Mass Audubon’s Moose Hill Wildlife Gallery fall exhibit “Natural Expressions and Indigenous Colors” featuring the work of Farnaz Mobayyen.  This exhibit captures the energetic, bold and passionate expressions that capture the soul and spirit of the world outside. The spontaneous and creative essence of her work is reflected in the brilliant and colorful paintings which will inspire your imagination and appreciation of nature. Ms. Mobayyen has exhibited and won awards for her artwork throughout the Massachusetts and Michigan area.

Pricing: Free, Open to all.

3. A Second Look Exhibit

Where/When: , 456A Main St., Medfield; Saturday and Sunday Jan. 7 and 8, noon to 5 p.m.

Why Go: Zullo Gallery’s art exhibit "a second look" features 14 artists selected from this year's 17th Annual Juried Exhibition, working in a wide range of styles and mediums, focusing on a variety of subjects.

Pricing: Free, Open to all.

4. Emmanuel Lutheran Church Fireside Coffee House Music

Where/When: , 24 Berwick St, Norwood; Sun., Jan. 8, 2 to 4 p.m.

Why Go: The Fireside Coffeehouse features acoustic music from a collection of Boston-area musical duos and trios. The format is an open mike plus a half hour feature from a selected duo or trio.  This afternoon open mike will feature musical duos and trios featuring  Two for the Show (Ellen Schmidt and Jake Kensinger. Refreshments will also be provided.  

Pricing: A $5 donation at the door goes to a church music fund.

5. Natick Winter Market

Where/When: , 67 Union St, Natick, MA; Saturday, Jan. 7, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why Go: The Metrowest Medical Center (MWMC) will host the 2012 Winter Market in the Helm Auditorium every Saturday from Jan. 7 through March 31, 2012. Over 25 food vendors will be offering fresh products for your health.
