Local author visits Medfield, music and markets on the calendar this weekend.

The weekend is just around the corner. If the only plans you have is not to stay home because lounging on the couch and watching TV just isn't cutting it anymore, then don't worry, Medfield Patch is here to assist you! 1. Olinde Mandell at Perks Coffeehouse

2. Medfield Mystery Author Visits Park St. Books

Where/When: , 26 Park St., Medfield; Sat., Jan. 14, 2 p.m.

Why Go: Love a good mystery? Medfield Author Neal Sanders will visit Park Street Books to talk about his three mystery books: Murder Imperfect, The Garden Club Gang and The Accidental Spy.

3. Velveteen Playboys 'Swingin' Pink for a Cure' Breast Cancer Benefit

Where/When: 23 Patriot Pl, Foxborough, (); Friday, Jan.13, 8 p.m.

Why Go: The Velveteen Playboys will perform their unique style of rock, pop and swing tonight for a Breast Cancer Benefit Concert with proceeds going to Essco-MGH Breast Cancer Research Fund. The Fran D'Agostino Band and The Boston Horns will also perform for this benefit concert.

4. Dedham Square Country Market

Where/When: 626 High Street, Dedham; Sun. Jan. 15, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Why Go: This weekly market is held at the new "Dedham Square Country Market," located in the Odd Fellows building. Here you will find the freshest seafood, baked goods and other food items in town.

5. Natick Winter Market

Where/When: , 67 Union St, Natick, MA; Saturday, Jan. 14, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why Go: The Metrowest Medical Center (MWMC) will host the 2012 Winter Market in the Helm Auditorium every Saturday from Jan. 7 through March 31, 2012. Over 25 food vendors will be offering fresh products for your health.
