Weekend Planner: Theatre, Pasta Fundraiser and a Winter Carnival

Here's a preview of some events taking place in the area this weekend for March 9-11.

The weekend is just around the corner. If the only plans you have is not to stay home because lounging on the couch and watching TV just isn't cutting it anymore, then don't worry, Medfield Patch is here to assist you! Check out our list of suggestions of events to attend, places to go, sites to see – all within driving distance of home. 

1. Medfield High School Theatre Society Presents "Into the Woods"

Where/When: , 88 r South St., Medfield; Friday, March 9, 7 p.m., Saturday, March 10, 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 11, 2 p.m.

Why Go: The acclaimed musical classic, "Into the Woods," shares how a true ending to a fairy tale would be like if you combined Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood, and Rapunzel all in one show. Music and lyrics by Stephen Sounheim.

2. St. Edward Parish Pasta Fundraiser

Where/When: , 133 Spring St., Medfield; Friday, March 9, 6 p.m.

Why Go: St. Edward Parish will host a pasta dinner fundraiser tonight at 6 p.m. for this year's Romero Center Mission Trip.

Pricing: $7 per adult; $5 per child.

3. Sixth Annual Winter Carnival

Where/When: , 59 Adams St., Medfield; Saturday, March 10, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: The Memorial and Wheelock Schools' CSAs will hold its sixth annual Winter Carnival this Saturday. The carnival is the primary fundraising event and proceeds are shared between the two schools to supplement the schools’ budgets and help fund enrichment programs such as the performing arts, science, and technology. Funds have also been used to purchase books, computer equipment, software for classrooms and libraries, and  playground equipment. The Carnival is geared toward children and families, and will feature a silent auction, raffles, games, activities an inflatable slide, an obstacle course, food galore and much more. 4. Parks and Recreation to Hold Kids Night Out!

Where/When:  124 North St., Medfield; Friday, March 9, 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Why Go: The Medfield Parks and Recreation Department will serve pizza from on Kids Night Out this Friday and will be decorating cupcakes for dessert. The movie for entertainment will be Yogi Bear. Registration can be done online at www.town.medfield.net, or in person at the Pfaff Center with cash or check.

Pricing: $15 per child.

5. New N' Towne New Members Social

Where/When: 27 Hawthorne Dr., Medfield; Sunday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: New N' Towne is hosting a New Members Social on Sunday, March 11th at the home of Minta and Dave Hissong at 27 Hawthorne Dr. This social is open to anyone who is new to Medfield or to NNT since September of 2011. It's a great way to learn what NNT has to offer, meet a few board members, and sign up for new activities.
