Weekend Planner: Art Exhibit, Historic Sites and Benefit Concerts

Here's a look at the weekend ahead for April 6 - April 8

The weekend is just around the corner. If the only plans you have is not to stay home because lounging on the couch and watching TV just isn't cutting it anymore, then don't worry, Medfield Patch is here to assist you! Check out our list of suggestions of events to attend, places to go, sites to see – all within driving distance of home. 

1. 17th Annual Student-Faculty Art Exhibit Opening Weekend

Where/When: 456A Main St., Medfield; Saturday April 7 and Sunday, April 8 from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Why Go: Zullo Gallery, in collaboration with the K-12 Visual Arts Faculty of the Medfield Public Schools, presents the 17th Annual Student-Faculty Art Exhibit. The exhibit, which officially opens on April 7th, will display up to sixty pieces of selected art work from students in grades K-12 alongside the work from the Visual Arts Faculty. This exhibit will run from April 7th through April 29th, and is available for viewing on Saturday's and Sunday's from 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

2. Norwood Rocks III Benefit Concert

Where/When: , 152 Winslow Ave., Norwood; Friday, April 6, 8:00 p.m.

Why Go: Three of New England's best bands will rock the Elks Club to benefit the Norwood Food Pantry.  The Full-Time Dreamers, Cousin Johnny, and Death By Fame, all with Norwood roots, will perform beginning at 8:00 p.m.  Doors open at 7:00 p.m.

Pricing: $5.00 Plus a non-expired can food item.

 

3. Easter Dinner & Horse Drawn Carriage Rides  

Where/When: 33 N. Main St., Sherborn; Sunday April 8, 10:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Why Go: The Inn will be serving a brunch buffet between 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. followed by a dinner buffet from 2 to 5 p.m.  Horse drawn carriage rides, provided by Capital Whips and Hack Livery of So. Natick, will be available between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Each ride will last approx. 15 mins. No reservations required. The Easter Bunny will also be present passing candy to youngsters.  Reservations are required for dining.

Pricing: Horsedrawn carriages cost $20 per ride; please call the Sherborn Inn at 508-655-9521 for buffet prices and reservations.

 

4. Medfield Historical Society Reopens For the Season

Where/When: , 6 Pleasant St., Medfield; Saturday April 7, 10:00 a.m - 12:00 p.m.

Why Go: The museum is debuting a special exhibit entitled: "Your Historical Society Then and Now."  There will be lots of interesting photographs, documents and artifacts on display. Feel free to stop in to browse through its collections and materials that document the history of Medfield since its founding in 1649. Learn more about this history of Medfield, your family genealogy, famous people of Medfield and much more.

Pricing: Admission is free and open to the public, although donations to help defray preservation and curation costs are always appreciated.

 

5. Historic Caryl House and Fisher Barn Reopens For Season

Where/When: , 107 Dedham St., Dover; Saturday, April 7, 1:00 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: The Dover Historical Society invites you to visit the The 1777 Caryl House and Fisher Barn during their open house season every Saturday from April 7th through June 30th.

Take a step back into history and see how The Reverend Benjamin Caryl and his family lived in 18th century Dover following the American Revolution. The Fisher Barn holds the Historical Society's collection of farm tools highlighting Dover's agricultural past.

The 1906 Sawin Museum, located at 80 Dedham St will also be open on Saturdays, 1-4 PM. Come and see the new exhibits.
