Weekend Activities Around The Medfield Area: April 29 to May 1

Concerts, haircut fundraiser and a comedy show on the calendar this weekend.

The weekend is just around the corner. If the only plans you have are not to stay home because lounging on the couch and watching TV just doesn't cut it anymore, then don't worry, Medfield Patch is here to assist you! Check out our list of suggestions of events to attend, places to go, sites to see – all within driving distance of home. 

1. Medfield High’s Annual Jazz Night

Where/When: , 88r South St, Medfield; Friday, April 29, 7 p.m.

Why Go: If you can't get to the famed New Orleans Jazz Festival this year, you can get a taste of it in Medfield. The Medfield High School's annual Jazz Night concert will be held tonight at the High School beginning at 7 pm. The years event features guest performer and trumpeter Alex Sipiagin in a warm-up for his New Orleans appearance with the Mingus Big Band. Tunes expected to be in the line-up that night include “Decoupage” and “Georgia on my Mind.” Medfield's Jazz Band I has had a memorable year, winning a national title in the high school division of the Charles Mingus big band competition in New York City in February. Following the performance, Justin DiCioccio, Assistant Dean and Chair of Manhattan School of
Music’s Jazz Arts Program said, “The level of playing was remarkable and the best that I have ever heard at the high school level.”

Pricing: Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students.

2. Relay for Life-Cut-a-thon Fundraiser at Medfield Hair Salon

Where/When:  , 485 Main St, Medfield; Friday, April 29, 5 to 7 p.m.

Why Go: Phillip DePalma Hair Salon on Main Street will hold a cut-a-thon today to support the Relay For Life of Millis/Medway/Medfield/Norfolk from 5:00 -7:00p.m. Wet cuts will be $25 each, and waxes $10.  All proceeds will be donated to the Relay for Life. Don’t miss out.  Make sure you call the salon at (508) 359-8814 soon to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins welcome if there are any openings.

Pricing: $25 for wet cuts, $10 for waxes.

3. TickleJuice Jazz Concert

Where/When: , 26 North St, Medfield; Saturday, April 30, 7p.m. to 10 p.m.

Why Go: Jazz concert featuring Medfield Trumpeter Tom Duprey and alto saxophonist James Miranda to benefit Lowell Mason Foundation’s efforts to restore the Lowell Mason House.

Pricing: $10 for adults, $7 for students.

Where/When:  23 Patriot Pl, Foxborough; Sunday, May 1, 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: Legendary Hot Tuna will be performing songs off their first new album in twenty years "Steady As She Goes". Featuring Rock & Roll Hall of Famers and Jefferson Airplane founding members Jack Casady and Jorma Kaukonen, the band celebrates over four decades of playing together.

Where/When: , 1 School St, Foxboro; Friday, April 29, 8 p.m.

Why Go: Boston comedian Jim Lauletta performs at the Orpheum’s April Comedy Night Live, along with Matt Donaher, Jessie Baade and Jimmy Bowes. House band Red Fox Motel will perform, and a beer and wine cash bar will be available.
