Week in Review: Marathon and More

Here's a glance at this week's headlines.

Last week's headlines are mostly Boston Marathon-related.

We started the week with high hopes and positive stories about our runners. We profiled some of our 27 runners and followed their times as they ran the course.

Then it turned 2:50 p.m. on Monday, April 15, two bombs went off at the Boston Marathon finish line, and everything changed.

We went from a celebratory/traditional mode to a fear/panic mode as we tried to track down our runners and to try to understand why this happened. We spent the week searching for the identity of the person or people who did this, then learned their identity and soon after their whereabouts.

Thursday day started the vigil services with a visit from President Barack Obama. Then came Thursday night and Friday -- days we are not likely to ever forget.

With many cities and towns in lockdown and many people not being able to get into work, plus it being school vacation for many families, many of us sat in front of a screen watching the day's events unfold. It was unreal.

One suspect was killed, as well as a police officer, in a shootout Thursday night (another officer is in serious condition) and the second suspect was finally caught on Friday night.

Perhaps now the healing can begin.

The following is a list of last week's headlines. They are mostly Marathon-related and include many stories from Medfield marathon runners. You will also see a long list of marathon stories if you care to re-read those.

We are grateful for our marathoners' safety and we are hopeful that justice is served. Be safe, Medfield.
