Woman is Collecting Teddy Bears for Newtown

Want to help? A 20-year-old girl created a Facebook page to collect teddy bears for the students of Newtown children.

Within minutes of creating a Facebook page called "Teddys for Newtown," Alysa White had an overwhelming response.

"In such a terrible time like this I want them to be comforted. I know a teddy bear is so small and can no way take all of the pain away that was caused by this day, but I hope a new fuzzy friend to hug will help," said her original post.

White, 20, hopes to collect 650 brand new teddy bears to give one to all students at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

According to the page, people from all over the country want to help.

If Medfield residents would like to donate a teddy bear, it can be mailed to White at 919 W. Spresser Street, Taylorville, IL 62568 [note this is an updated address]. Monetary donations, with which White will purchase teddy bears, can also be sent to that address.

White told Newtown about her efforts via a blog on Newtown Patch where former Newtown resident Jason Petrasanta (and others) thanked White for her efforts.
