UPDATED: Results of Medfield's Boston Marathon Runners

It was a successful Marathon Monday for Medfield runners competing as 17 out of the 20 qualified Medfield runners finished the Boston Marathon. Kristin A. Marshall, 22, was the first Medfield runner to cross the finish line with an unofficial time of 3:08:42. Kevin Barton, 38, was the first Medfield male runner to cross the finish line at an unofficial time of 3:12:58.

Three qualified Medfield runners did not record results. Read below to see how each Medfield runner fared in the 26.22-mile race starting in Hopkinton and ending in Boston:

  • Melissa Blair, 43, No. 7300 (No results posted)
  • Kevin Barton, 38, No. 24765 (finished unofficially at 3:12:58)
  • Michelle K. Lynch, 23, No. 25904 (No results)
  • Caroline M. Maider, 24, No. 22956 (finished unofficially at 4:25:45)

Kenya’ Geoffrey Mutai set a new world record, winning the Boston Marathon in 2:03:02 and edging out fellow Kenyan, Moses Mosop (2:03:06) in the men’s elite. Kenya’s Caroline Kilel won the women’s elite with a time of 2:22:36, edging out American Desiree Davila (2:22:38).

The 115th Boston Marathon is a 26.22-mile race that spreads across Hopkinton, Ashland, Natick, Framingham, Wellesley, Newton and into Boston, finishing at Copley Square. According to the Boston Marathon's website, the race was moved from Ashland to Hopkinton in 1924 and in 1927 the course was lengthened to the full distance of 26 miles, 385 yards to meet Olympic standards.
