Strides for Sack 5K Fundraiser for Taylor Sack, and Other Ways to Help

A community run will be held on March 17 to raise money for the Sack family whose son Taylor was paralyzed in a Feb. 22 skiing accident.

 

A 5k run will be held on Sun., March 17 to benefit Taylor Sack and his family.

The money raised will help the Sack family with expenses not covered by insurance.  

Race organizer Allison Maher says, "Our purpose is to provide immediate financial assistance to the family, along with bolstering the sense of community and support for Taylor."

The run will be held (rain or shine) at the Veteran’s Memorial Building, 900 Main Street, Millis, starting at 9 a.m. Event day registration starts at 8 a.m. but early registration will be held the day before -- on Sat., March 16 -- from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Veteran's Memorial Gymnasium. 

The first 50 runners to register will receive a free “Strides for Sack” t-shirt.

Registration fees include $10 for students, $20 per adult, $35 family cap, and children under 10 are free. 

Organizers say that, 

In order to defray any additional costs, this will be a ‘no-frills’ 5k! This will not be an officially timed or posted event, so runners please bring your own timing device to track your time! Also in a show of support for Taylor, please wear anything light blue or blue!

More Ways to Help

* Drop off a donation at any Middlesex Savings Bank branch location or mail it to the Sack Family Support Trust, Middlesex Savings Bank, 36A Milliston Road, Millis, MA 02054. The Medfield branch is located at 495 Main Street.

* Take part in a one-hour Ryde for Taylor Ryde-a-Thon on Saturday at Medfield’s H.Y.P. Studio, 120 North Meadows Road, where people are sponsoring bikes that people will ride in shifts to raise money for Taylor and his family. Donations will also be accepted at the event.
