In February of this year, 38 Studios (originally named "Green Monster Games") released its first game "Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning" and had another game, "Project Copernicus," in the works when the company filed for bankruptcy protection in June.

In May, the company laid off all its employees and was unable to make payments on a $75 million loan it received from the state of Rhode Island.

Last week, the Washington Post reported that no federal charges would be filed against 38 Studios but that the Rhode Island investigation is on-going.
