Reports Say Storm Unlikely

Storm likely to miss Medfield, head out to sea. Light snowfall may be in forecast.

The winter storm that was expected to hit hard in Medfield and surrounding towns throughout the Greater Boston Area, appears to have been nothing more than a false alarm.

While weather in New England is often unpredictable, Channel 5's David Brown reported Saturday morning that there will be "no heaping amounts of snow."

Brown said, while a storm has developed, it will roll out to sea. Residents in Medfield may still see some light snowfall, however.

The National Weather Service reported on its website that the storm's track is uncertain and it has not posted any severe weather alerts.

In Medfield, reports call for a 20 percent chance of light snowfall after 3 p.m. Sunday and increases to 30 percent after 9 p.m. Chance of snow remains in the forecast Monday thru Wednesday with Tuesday night calling for the greatest chance of precipitation at 40 percent. Brown reported there would be light snow fall with little accumulation.

While a storm may not be in the forecast, local businesses said they are ready for heavy snow when it comes, even if it isn't this weekend.

At , which has a local store located on Main Street in Medfield, "as of now, the only item added to store deliveries has been rock salt," spokesman Steve Sylven told Patch in an e-mail. "We're keeping an eye on the forecast and will adapt as/if needed," he said.
