NWS: Medfield Could See 3-5 Inches of Snow Saturday

Snow could begin as early as Friday night. Temperatures are expected to drop into the teens Saturday as storm makes it way across the area.

The groundhog wasn't kidding.

Eight days after saw his shadow and predicted six more weeks of winter, the National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory and a hazardous weather outlook throughout the area for this weekend.

Up to an inch of snow could fall across the region Friday night, mainly after 5 p.m., according to the National Weather Service's website. Medfield could then see an additional 3 to 5 inches of snow fall across the area Saturday.

"Snow showers with a high near 35," the NWS said of Saturday's expected weather in Medfield. "Calm wind becoming north between 6 and 9 mph. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible."

As for Saturday night, snow showers are likely to occur, mainly before 11 p.m. with frigid temperatures. A low of 18 degrees is expected and wind chill values could be as low as -1.

A winter weather advisory has been issued into effect from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, according to the NWS.

"The heaviest snow will fall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. [Saturday]," the advisory said. "Roadways will become snow covered and slippery, especially secondary roads, including exit and entrance ramps."
