NWS Issues Weather Advisory Tuesday in Medfield

Inclement weather postpones start of Medfield High School spring sports again.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory until 3 p.m. Tuesday around much of New England, including the Medfield area. 

"The strongest winds [will occur] from now through mid afternoon," the NWS, based in Taunton, said on its website. "Winds this strong are capable of downing small tree limbs and branches."

The NWS said isolated power outages are possible and residents should use precaution and be prepared for such instances. Wind gusts are expected to reach 45 to 50 mph at times.

The NWS issues a wind advisory when "sustained winds are forecast to be 31 to 39 mph or gusts will range between 46 and 57 mph." The NWS said driving can also be difficult, "especially for high profile vehicles," so use caution. 

Tuesday's forecast calls for showers mainly before 4 p.m. with areas of fog likely before 1 p.m.

As a result of Tuesday's weather, Medfield High School has postponed Tuesday's outdoor athletic events. Most games postponed Tuesday will likely be made up Wednesday. The MHS boys' volleyball team will still travel to Barnstable for a 4:30 p.m. game to open up its season.

Here's a list of the Tuesday's postponements:

  • Medfield High School boys' tennis at King Philip has been postponed to TBA.
  • Medfield High School girls' tennis vs. King Philip has been postponed to TBA.
  • Medfield High School girls' lacrosse game vs. Holliston has been postponed to 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday (April 6). 
  • Medfield High School boys' lacrosse game at Holliston has been postponed to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday (April 6).
