NSTAR Says It's Ready for Hurricane Sandy
NSTAR says it has secured contractor crews from as far away as the states of Texas and Washington to help New England.
With Hurricane Sandy moving its way northward and expected to impact our region on Monday and Tuesday, NSTAR’s preparations for a significant impact on its electric grid are well underway, according to www.nstar.com.
- While no utility can prevent widespread power outages in the face of devastating storms, we’ve worked throughout the year enhancing our storm response plans and communication procedures, and we stand ready to address any damage as quickly and safely as possible.
- An important part of our preparations is reaching out to contractors and other utilities to secure their assistance, which we have done. While utilities in Sandy’s path are unable to release their crews until they know their system is safe, we have already secured contractor crews from as far away as Texas and Washington State to assist us. Crews will be arriving in our service area throughout the day today.
