Medfield Could Get 4-8 Inches of Snow Tonight

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Norfolk County, including Medfield, for Monday evening through Tuesday afternoon.

 

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Norfolk County, including Medfield, beginning Monday evening through Tuesday afternoon.

The NWS is reporting a “significant winter storm” is likely to hit the area Monday night into Tuesday.

The storm is expected to deliver a “period of heavy snow followed by sleet,” according to the NWS. Some areas will be hit with mostly freezing rain.

In Medfield, snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches is possible, along with a trace of ice. Snowfall will likely begin Monday evening before tapering off Tuesday afternoon with heaviest precipitation late Monday into Tuesday morning.

“This will result in treacherous travel conditions later Monday night into at least Tuesday morning,” the NWS said.

The local forecast calls for:

Monday night: Snow mainly after 1 a.m. Low around 29. East wind 7 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Tuesday: Rain, snow, and sleet, becoming all rain after 1 p.m. High near 40. Northeast wind 9 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
