Medfield Middle School Teacher Marathoners Are Safe

Three teachers from Blake Middle School ran this year's Boston Marathon.

This week is school break in Medfield but some students, particularly those who attend Thomas A. Blake Middle School, couldn't get school off their mind.

That's because three of their teachers -- sixth grade science teachers Kelly Dengos and Marjorie Heim, and eighth grade math teacher Erin Kearney -- ran this year's Boston Marathon.

Blake Principal Nat Vaughn told Patch on Wednesday that, "All three staff members from Blake who ran the marathon are safe and okay," and said he appreciates the community's concern.

Vaughn sent the following message to Blake families via his principal's blog:

Thank you to everyone for their shared concerns about our staff. Ms. Dengos, Mrs. Kearney, and Mrs. Heim are all safe. Your care and compassion is greatly appreciated.

Dengos -- who was at the 40k mark at 2:40 p.m. -- updated her classroom website after the race on Monday.

Thank you to all those who came out to cheer me on today. I made it to Boston safe and sound and so appreciate the support.
