Medfield Green Day on Saturday

People can drop off their recyclables at the American Legion on May 4 from 9 a.m. to noon.

 

On Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to noon, Medfield Green will be hosting its annual Medfield GREEN DAY at the American Legion (110 Peter Kristof Way, Medfield) where more than a dozen local non-profit organizations will be on-site to accept donations. 

Medfield GREEN DAY is a drive-thru donating and recycling event held annually to provide residents with a quick and easy way to pass along items that they no longer need.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to donate," said Lucille Fisher who is helping to organize the event. "You get to spring clean and you get rid of the stuff you don't want any more but then it's going to be recycled for good use." 

Among the many organizations will be:

Bikes Not Bombs: Collecting bicycles for a non-profit organization that will deliver them to third world countries.

Cradles to Crayons: Accepting children's clothing and baby equipment. 

Furniture: Yes: Living room, bedroom and dining room furniture donations in good, resalable condition are welcomed. No: Mattresses, futons, sleeper sofas, or large wall units.

Metals and Butterflies: Recycle refrigerators, air conditioners, stoves, dishwashers, garbage disposals, toaster ovens, washing machines, dryers and microwaves. Also: grills, snow blowers, lawn mowers, car batteries and all electrical wairing qualifies too.  The Butterfly Tree will again be handing out $5 coupons (why supplies last) to donors. 

Also present will be:

  • Medfield Police Department to collect expired prescriptions
  • Transfer Station to sell new access stickers 
  • Shredder vendor for plastic cards (gift cards, credit cards, etc.)
  • and much, much more

Medfield High School students will be available to help keep the morning moving well. 

The event is sponsored by MEMO (the Medfield Employers and Merchants Organization).
