MCPE Annual On-line Auction Raises $5,684

Back by popular demand, the Medfield Coalition for Public Education (MCPE) is offering its most popular educational experiences from auctions and raffles past.

The auction ended on April 9, at 10 p.m. 

Bidders were able to choose from several one-of-a-kind items and experiences that are, well, priceless.

Organizers Julie Layden and Anna Mae O'Brien Brooke say the auction kicked into high gear on closing day and raised $5,684.

"The items were so popular that they really drove our numbers up down to the last minute," said O'Shea.  

"As of this past Saturday, the bids were at $2,675; as of Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m., we were at $3,780; then I checked the tallies again when the auction closed [at 10 p.m.] and nearly fell off my chair when I saw a total sale of $5,684!"

She said the hottest item was the four-pack of premium seats for graduation seats which went for $1,409. Wow!

Layden and O'Shea-Brooke credit the auction's success to generous donors, vested families and a great working team of the whole board on the Coalition.

"We are really happy with the overall success, but most of all, we are really grateful to our supportive community," said O'Shea-Brooke. "We are grateful to the families who support us, and so grateful to the donors, teachers, staff, administrators, community leaders and students."

About MCPE Fundraising

This is MCPE's 25th Year Anniversary, and in lieu of a "Spring Fling" event or E4E, the group decided on an Appeal Campaign, which to date has raised $75,000!

The group also felt that families really looked forward to some of the unique items they traditionally offer during an event like the Spring Fling so they decided to offer a scaled-down version of the past event. 

Clearly, it was well-received.
