"The meeting is part of the continuing Public Involvement Process concerning DCAM efforts underway since late 2009  to identify the nature and extent of hazardous material releases and contaminants of concern on the site of the former Medfield State Hospital.

"Specifically, the meeting will   '... present the draft Interim Phase II Comprehensive Site Assessment(ICSA)/Annual Special Project Designation(SPD) Status report, to solicit public comment... and to provide information about site Conditions.'

"DCAM's Comprehensive Site Analysis Report (Phase II of the  5-Phase DEP Hazardous Material Release Notification , Investigation & Remediation  process) was originally due on 30 November 2010.  Because of the need to take additional sediment samples in the Charles, confirmation of asbestos in the riverbank, and the discovery of chlorinated solvents in groundwater near Town Well #6 in late summer/fall,  the CSA Report  release was slipped to 1 March 2011.

"Since this new report release date has not been met and, the meeting notice would seem to indicate that the Site Investigation/Analysis is not yet complete,  a new schedule should be discussed.

"It is hoped that in addition to any reports on the assessment/analyses of initial areas of significant contamination, this meeting will also address the current status of DCAM's supplemental chlorinated solvent investigations and provide responses to Medfield's  Board of Selectmen and residents' comments on the Supplemental SOW submitted on 2 February 2011 .  The current status of DCAM's planned submittal to the Army Corps of Engineers  for work on the bank of the Charles River discussed in their January CVOC PIP meeting may also be addressed."
