Grab & Go Kids Planner: Let's Go Fly A Kite

From flying a kite in Framingham to making art in Wellesley, weather this weekend will make it all possible.

1. Your kids believe in fairytales so let them witness a real one. YouTube, along with tons of other broadcast stations will be carrying the ceremony live as Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton tie the knot on Friday, April 29 at 10 a.m. London time (6 a.m.) our time.  It’s the biggest royal wedding since many of us parents were kids. I remember watching the marriage of Princess Di and Prince Charles on a small TV sans a remote. Now you can catch this wedding online with live multi-media blogs, twitters and more.

2. The Museum of Fine Arts (465 Huntington Avenue) in Boston will host its annual Arts in Bloom family day on Saturday, April 30 from 11 to 3 p.m. Enjoy art-making activities, storytelling, performances, and more. Free with Museum admission. See the MFA's galleries transformed by almost 70 extraordinary arrangements inspired by magnificent works of art. This year's Art in Bloom arrangements are located throughout the Museum, including 28 in the new Art of the Americas Wing.

3. On April 30, 2011, join more than 1000 paddlers in canoe and kayak races for everyone — from short legs in the Relay Race to a 26-Mile Pro Marathon, all ending at the Finish Line Festival with food, music, prizes, and displays. Visit the Charles River Watershed Association for Run of the Charles race rules, terms, and registration information. Click for a list indicating the race class of a variety of canoes and kayaks. 8:30am with races on-going throughout the day and ending at the finish line festival at 4:30pm

4. Children of all ages and adults with an inner child are invited to the Davis Museum Plaza (Wellesley College 106 Central Street, Wellesley) for an interactive afternoon of learning and play on Sunday, May 1 from 1 to 3 p.m. Following an exploration of the numerous materials used by El Anatsui in his works which resonates materially and symbolically with the cultural and historical conditions of West Africa., children will use materials that tell a story.

5. Let’s go fly a kite! Join the Autism Alliance as they celebrate Autism awareness at Bose Mountain in Framingham. It's a fun free day filled with balloons, face painting, kite flying, giveaways, music, magic and more! Free kites and pinwheels for all kids! Free bottled water while it lasts. Plus, a special appearances by KONE (Kites Over New England) - professional kite flyers who will help decorate the sky with their large fancy kites. The Framingham Fire and Police Department will be on hand printing fingerprints and letting children explore their fire trucks, cruisers, motorcycles and ambulances.
