Grab & Go Kids Planner: Labor Day Awaits
Labor Day weekend awaits. You can visit the animals in Stoneham or go apple picking at one of the area's local orchards for some family fun.
- This Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon, Stoneham Zoo (149 Pond St., Stoneham) is letting everyone gain admission at kid prices. That means the whole family pays $7 each. Located next to the sparkling Spot Pond Reservoir, Stone Zoo is the perfect place to get close to amazing animals, exhilarating exhibits, and exciting events going on daily, year-round.
- Tis’ the season. Apple picking is now available at many of Massachusetts’ 50 apple orchards. Fill a bag with as many varieties as you'd like. It is a perfect way to spend a day with the whole family in Massachusetts. Enjoy! Consult this online list to find one near you.
- Come get your hands dirty in the Powisset Farm fields (39 Powisset St., Dover) on Saturday, Sept. 3 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. You can help them to plant, weed, and harvest, or with a variety of other farm projects. - In the 1850s, girls dressed up to dance at fancy costume balls. Your girl can decorate a paper dance slipper, reminiscent of the ones Cécile and Marie-Grace would have worn to a special celebration at The American Girl Store (Natick Collection, 1245 Worcester St., Natick) on Saturday, Sept. 3 from noon to 2 p.m.
- A weekly market will be held at the new Dedham Square Country Market, located in the Odd Fellows building at 626 High St. (next to Nest) on Sunday, Sept. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. . The market has been organized by Greg Agnew, proprietor of the Dedham Square Country Market, whose family farm "Lemon Thyme Farm" was a regular vendor at the Dedham Farmers Market last season.
