Grab & Go Kids Planner: Climb To Great Heights

Whether you are up for rock climbing in Framingham or showing off your silly side in Concord, this weekend could prove to be one of summer's best to show off your talents!

  • Hop on over to the Frog Pond (Boston Common) on Saturday, Aug. 20 for Frog Appreciation Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The city is partnering up with Zoo New England‘s Franklin Park Zoo for this free, entertaining, family-friendly event aimed at educating young people about frogs here and around the world. Activities include: face painting, arts and crafts tables where children can make beanbag frogs, a frog release of dozens of toy frogs into the Spray Pool, and giveaways of free children’s tickets to Zoo New England’s Franklin Park Zoo.
  • Have a child who thinks he’s a comedian? Let him prove it! Barefoot Book’s flagship store(89 Thoreau St., Concord) is hosting a free “Riddle Me This” comedy workshop on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Kids will have a chance to tell jokes and deliver riddles from the popular book, “Riddle me This.” Ages 8 and up.
  • Needham Community Farm (Pine St., Needham) is hosting an open house on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 10 a.m. to noon, for families to come meet farm volunteers and learn more about the important work at the farm.
  • On Saturday, Aug. 20 between 10 and 11 a.m., Kate Blaski, a healthy eating specialist will lead simple and fun crafts your children can do at home at Whole Foods Market (575 Worcester, Rd., Framingham). This week’s featured craft: plaques using salt dough. During each session will be a healthy snack provided. For children ages 4-10. No registration required.
  • Whether a veteran, beginner, or if you've never experienced the thrill of indoor climbing, REI's Climbing Pinnacle (375 Cochituate Rd, Framingham) is a family bonding experience. The free session is held Saturday, Aug. 20 from 1 to 5 p.m. All climbers under the age of 18 must have their parent or legal guardian present. Minimum height: 42 inches. No online registration required. First-come, first-served.
