Grab & Go Kids Planner: Bring on April

From circus performances and theatre productions, to fun for preschoolers, here's our best bet for a super start to April.

  • The World’s Greatest Circus artists swing into action in the spotlight under the Big Top, where no seat is more than 50 feet from the ring from April 2 until May 15 at City Hall Plaza. Dance On! will include an awesome troupe of monocyclists and lasso twirlers from China, a mind–bending group of Mongolian contortionists and twelve miniature horses in an equine chorus line.   • Who doesn’t love this book: “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie”? See this and shows based on other popular storybooks as part of theJCC Magic Ark Performing Arts Series for families on Sunday, April 3 at the Leventhal-Sidman JCC (333 Nahanton Street , Newton) at 11 a.m. & 1 p.m.  The show is geared for children ages 4+. Cost is $8 for JCC members and $11 for nonmembers.  
  • The Dover Nursery School is hosting a fun family event on Saturday, April 2 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Preschool-aged families can enjoy activities, games, a bake sale, and a silent auction to raise money for Project Bread and MSPCA-Angell. Children can dress-up, try their skills at bean bag toss and "pool"-fishing, have their faces painted and decorate cupcakes. Cost is $5.
  • Allegro Music School and Children’s Dance Theater presents “Live! From the Toy box atNatick Center for the Arts (14 Summer Street, Natick) on Sunday, April 3 at 2 p.m. A children’s choir and top student musicians perform Beethoven, Ravel and Shostakovich and animate young dancers who “escape” from the toy box for a joyous celebration of dolls, Legos, puppets and other surprises! A lively, joyous and fun classical concert by children for children. Tickets are $10, $7 child.
  • Passover tells the story of liberation from slavery and having the strength to overcome hardship and hoping for a brighter future. This kid-friendly, interactive “telling” of the Passover story on Sunday, April 3 at 10 a.m. at Kennedy Middle School (165 Mill Street, Natick) will engage your kids and involve all the senses: Taste the matzah, smell the bitter herbs, hear and sing-along with the music and more! $10 per person.
