Five Things You Need to Know Today in Medfield, June 9

Here's a look at the day ahead.

Today's Forecast: Thursday's weather, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for a a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 98. West wind between 7 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.  Thursday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. West wind between 5 and 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. 

Notable Events:

  • Today is Field Day for first grade students of Memorial Elementary School.  To ensure your child enjoys their morning of  fun and games, please be sure your they are dressed in light and comfortable play clothes, a hat, sneakers, a bottle of water and plenty of sunscreen.
  • The Medfield Board of Water & Sewer will hold a Public Hearing Meeting regarding the town's rate increase at 7 pm at  the Medfield Town Hall in the Warrant Meeting Room.
  • The  sixth, seventh and eighth Grade Band and seventh and eighth Grade Orchestra will perform a Concert tonight at the High School beginning at 7 p.m.

Today In Sports History: In 1985, the L.A. Lakers beat the Boston Celtics, 4 games to 2 during the 39th NBA Championships.
