Five Things You Need to Know Today in Medfield, July 20

Here's a look at the day ahead.

Today's Forecast: Wednesday's weather, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for sunny, with a high near 89. Calm wind becoming southwest between 7 and 10 mph. Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 68. Southwest wind between 7 and 10 mph.

  • An  for children will be held today from 11:30 a.m. to noon. Bring a blanket and meet on the lawn behind the gazebo with your snack or picnic lunch. Your children will get to enjoy picture books and summer stories.
  •  will meet today from 1 to 2 p.m. The group will be discussing "Lincoln at Gettysburg: the words that remade America" by Garry Wills. Copies will be made available at the circulation desk. 

Children from the  will be participating in the  today and Thursday to raise money to support the Medfield Food Pantry. Quench your thirst with a cool glass of lemonade from 10 a.m. to noon at their lemonade stand, which will be located on the Frairy Street side of the preschool building.

The  will play Wellesley South at the  Williamsport Sectionals in Norwood at 8 p.m. All are encouraged to attend and support our Little League District 11 Champions.

Expect Delays on Route 109 in Westwood: There will be lane closures on Route 109 in Westwood in front of the town library today and Thursday as the new library is under construction. Commuters should expect "minor delays" between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. as Route 109 undergoes a road closure.
