Five Things You Need to Know This Weekend in Medfield, Aug. 6-7

Here's a look at the weekend ahead.

Weekend Forecast: Saturday's weather, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for isolated showers and thunderstorms between noon and 4 p.m., then isolated thunderstorms after 4 p.m. Saturday. Partly sunny, with a high near 81. West wind between 7 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent Saturday night: Showers likely, mainly after 4am. Patchy fog after 11pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. South wind between 6 and 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Sunday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Patchy fog before 1 p.m. High near 77. South wind between 7 and 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible. Sunday Night: A chance of showers. Patchy fog before 8 p.m., then Patchy fog after 9 p.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. Southeast wind at 6 mph becoming northwest. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Notable Events:

  • Powisset Farm Stand at Rocky Woods Reservation in Medfield will take place Saturday at 9 a.m. 
  • Stop by the Zullo Gallery Saturday at noon to see the exhibit: Urban Scenes, Buildings and Places. 

Tom Irving to Perform at Medfield’s North Street Coffeehouse: North Street Coffeehouse, located at First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church of Medfield, invites you to an evening of open mic and a featured performance by Tom Irving. Open mic begins at 7 p.m., and our feature goes on at around 9:30 until 10. Music of any genre, poetry, prose, or comedy are all welcome. The 20th Annual Red Sox Wives Can & Cash Drive: For two days this August, the Red Sox Wives take over Fenway Park to collect donations for The Greater Boston Food Bank, the largest hunger-relief organization in New England and one of the largest food banks in the country. During the 20th Annual Red Sox Wives Can & Cash Drive, the Wives distribute autographed photos of Red Sox players in exchange for 10 non-perishable food items or a $10 donation. Since The Food Bank and the Wives will be stationed outside the gates, fans do not need a ticket to the game to participate in the fundraiser. The fundraiser is Saturday from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at 4 Yawkey Way, Boston.
