Five Things You Need to Know in Medfield This Weekend: May 14-15

It is a busy weekend around the Medfield area with plenty of going on from fundraisers, charities and concerts. Here's your weekend planner guide if you feel like getting out and about but staying local this weekend. 

Medfield High School Band's Annual 'Ye Olde Pops' Concert: It will surely be a great night at the gymnasium at Medfield High School as the MHS band holds its annual 'Ye Olde Pops' concert. This year's medieval performance will feature music from the high school's band, orchestra, choir as well as the jazz band and choir.  Refreshments will be sold to the audience before and during the concert. The event is free.

Notable Events:

  • Medfield Lions White Cane Toll Booth for Sight will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at various locations around town. The proceeds from this event will support programs and services for people who are blind or visually impaired as well as for sight conservation. Blind and visually impaired people in many countries use the familiar white cane with a red band at the bottom.
  • Bake Sale to benefit Relay for Life will be held from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Medfield Youth Soccer Fields at 26 Pleasant St. "Colors of Hope" is holding the bake sale to help fundraise for their team. All profits will go towards Relay for Life.
  • Medfield Feel Good Festival 2011 will be held by the Friends of Rachel club. All games, activities and booths will be run by high school clubs and teams. Picnic lunches are encouraged. The event will be held at Wheelock soccer fields on Saturday, May 14th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Event is free. 
  • Medfield High School girls' lacrosse team hosts Walpole at 2:30 p.m.

Me and My Dragon Book Release Party: Stop by from 2 to 4 p.m. to celebrate the release of David Biedrzycki's latest book, "Me and My Dragon." Event is free and open to all.

PMC Medfield Kids Ride: On Sunday, Medfield Kids Ride will be one of 35 PMC Kids Rides held in neighborhoods throughout New England and beyond. The PMC Medfield Kids Ride will be held from 9 to 10 a.m., on Sunday, May 15, at Medfield High School, 88R South St. Medfield. There is a $10 registration fee and a suggested $50 fundraising minimum. PMC Kids Rides sponsors include Stop & Shop and Overstock.com. Contributions can be made payable to the Pan-Mass Challenge.
