Community Gathers to Honor Medfield Foundation's Volunteers of the Year

100 people attend reception honoring 19 extraordinary volunteers in the community on March 27.

The Medfield Foundation held its annual reception on Sunday, March 27 to recognize and celebrate the 19 extraordinary individuals who were suggested to be the volunteer of the year.

Almost all those individuals were present in person to be feted by the hundred people attending. Those stalwart individuals, who had taken the time and made the effort to single others out in writing for recognition, first described what special characteristics they saw in what those people had done, and then the individual volunteers themselves spoke about their volunteer work.  The format provided for those who had gathered repeated deeply personal, heart felt vignettes into 19 fascinating lives, and the diverse volunteer work they are doing.

Those attending called it "inspirational" and "motivating" to hear of the exceptional things that their neighbors are doing and have accomplished.

Medfield is so much better and richer as a town because of what these 19 people have done for the town.

"It was wonderful to hear the variety of things people are doing," said Representative Denise Garlick.  "The quality of lives in Medfield is the sum of so many small things that coalesce around the diversity that is the town, and these individuals truly stand tall in making all of the lives, the town, and the quality of life better."

Look up all and read about what they have done, watch the MedfieldTV broadcast as they describe what they have accomplished, and then when you see each one of them, be sure to thank them.

Special kudos as the Medfield Foundation Volunteer and Youth Volunteer of the Year, which went to Bob Luttman, who was honored for having a finger in just about everything, and to Deirdre Walsh most especially for leading the Community Teens.  Both received moving accolades from multiple speakers, Dawn Alcott, Amanda Nealon, Steve Pelosi, Jean Bourdon, and Kevin Hern for Luttman, and Erik Ormberg and AnneMarie Sabra for Walsh - high praise from those who know their work best.

Whole Foods Market generously donated the refreshments and provided gift cards for Luttman and Walsh.  Roche Bros. donated the bottled water.
