This past week, we asked readers to tell us where the best place to eat on Memorial Day weekend in Medfield is and after days of polling, the results are in!

In one of the closest races in the Best of Patch Readers’ Choice series, Basil Restaurant has been chosen as the best spot in town to grab a bite to eat on Memorial Day weekend.

Our shows the majority of readers will be stopping by the local eatery on Frairy Street if they are looking to go out to eat on Memorial Day weekend. Basil claimed 13 of the 45 poll votes (28 percent). The restaurant beat out second-place , which claimed 12 of 45 votes (26 percent). came in third place with 5 of 45 votes (11 percent).

Basil Restaurant is the product of a dream shared by owners and Medfield residents Tom and Karen McGue about opening a restaurant. Tom even wrote the following in their yearbook, according to Basil's website:

"Ambition—to be the chef of my own restaurant."

In 1999, Tom and Karen purchased the restaurant space and transformed it into Basil, according to the restaurant's website. The restaurant serves "American cuisine with an Italian soul," the website says.

The pub, which will likely be busy Saturday, offers a "relaxed setting and casual menu."
