Today's Forecast: Thursday's weather, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 10 a.m. Patchy fog before 3 p.m., then Patchy fog after 5 p.m. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 74. East wind at 8 mph becoming south. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Thursday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 9 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., then a chance of showers after 10 p.m. Patchy fog before 8 p.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 58. South wind between 6 and 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Notable Events:

• Today is Rosh Hashanah, the first day of the Jewish New Year. All public schools in the Medfield School District will be closed in observance of Rosh Hashanah.
• The  will be open today from 2 to 5:30 p.m. on the grounds of the  at 26 North St. Fresh produce and food will be offered by local farmers and producers. Parking is available behind the Church. This Farmers' Market now has four vendors on site: Langwater Farm, Ward's  Berry Farm, Blue Moon Bakery, and Medfield Green.

Road Work on North Street: Columbia Gas of Massachusetts will be working on North Street Thursday and FRiday, beginning at 7 a.m. Two detail officers were requested to direct traffic during this work.
