Medfield Historical Society Presents Civil War Program: The Medfield Historical Society monthly program entitled: "They Made the Ultimate Sacrifice;" a program detailing the 19 from Medfield who were killed in the Civil War. This year represents the 150th anniversary to the start of America’s bloodiest war and in remembrance of the Medfield blood shed throughout the South and the 19 killed, including seven buried in marked and unmarked graves far from the borders of their once familiar little town, the Medfield Historical Society will present a program on Monday night entitled “They Made the Ultimate Sacrifice.” The stories of each of those killed will be told, including first-hand accounts from the letters and diaries of two of the Medfield soldiers killed in action. Newly uncovered information on 19 year-old Daniel McMahan, killed in the Battle of Lookout Mountain in Tennessee, will also be revealed. The program will be held at the on 20 North St., the scene of the July 1861 Mass Meeting, starting at 7:30 p.m. The hour-long program will also feature Medfield Civil War artifacts and memorabilia, which can be viewed before or after the program. The event is free and open to all in the community and refreshments will be served.
